The qualifying round of the Olympiad is over!

The results of the qualifying round of the Olympiad will be published on the website no later than December 31, 2024.

Start of the qualifying round

November 16, 2024

Here is the qualifying (remote) round of the competition.

We will be happy if your friends who like physics also participate. However, every assignment should be done individually; otherwise, your submission will not be considered.

The winners of Olympiad 2023/24 (those with Diplomas I‑III) can participate directly in the final round.

Problems

The qualifying round is traditionally held for students in grades 8–11 in a test format: for each task, you only need to enter the answer, which is either a number or a letter. In some tasks, the answer may be a formula or the answer «no solution».

How to submit solutions

To participate in the «Formula of Unity» / «Third Millennium» 2024/25 physics olympiad, it is necessary to submit solution by the deadline of 23:59:59 UTC on December 7, 2024 (which is 02:59:59 Moscow time on December 8). Please register in our information system and submit your solutions through the personal account. Important: if you already have an account, there is no need to create a new one.

Be sure to read the participation instructions.
The form for submitting answers will be open from November 18.

We do not accept qualifying round works in any way other than through uploading within the information system.

Rules of the Olympiad

November 15, 2024

Dear participants!
Please read the rules of the Olympiad to avoid errors in writing your answers:

1. The first round of the Olympiad is in absentia and the answers are checked automatically, that is, a special program compares your answer with the correct one, included in the program by the organizers. Therefore, to prevent possible misunderstandings, carefully read the instructions and act in accordance with them.
All appeals for failure to comply with the rules of the instructions will not be considered.
2. All problems provide an answer in the form of a number or several numbers, for each of which a corresponding field is provided. Be careful and do not confuse the answer fields. If you insert the correct answers in the wrong fields, the program will not accept them.
3. Specify answers only as a decimal fraction: XX,XXX… Use a comma (,) as a separator.
4. It is not necessary (prohibited) to insert units of measurement, formulas or any words in the answer.
5. If the problem statement does not specify the units to use for the answer, use SI units: meters, kilograms, seconds, etc.
6. Since all measurements and calculations in physics are approximate, all answers must be given with the correct number of significant digits. For the rules of approximate calculations, see the file «Rules of approximate calculations». If there are zeros after the required number of significant digits in an integer, this will not be considered an error. Writing the number 34,0 (3 significant digits) as 34 will be considered an error.
7. You have 3 weeks to provide answers. Works sent later will not be considered.

Dear participants!
